Frequently Asked Questions

We've gathered the most common questions about olive oil and Pure Verda for you.

What is extra virgin olive oil?

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality grade, obtained from olives using only mechanical means, without any chemical processing. It has low free acidity and is the oil with the richest aroma and highest nutritional value.

What does cold-pressed mean?

Cold pressing means processing the olives below 27°C. This low temperature preserves the aroma, vitamins and antioxidants within the oil. Pure Verda olive oils are produced using cold pressing.

How should olive oil be stored?

Store olive oil in a cool (14-18°C), dark place with the cap tightly closed. Light, heat and air are the oil's biggest enemies. There's no need to refrigerate; room temperature is fine.

Does the color indicate quality?

No. Color can range from green to golden depending on the olive variety and harvest time. This is why professional tasters use colored glasses. Quality is determined by aroma, taste and acidity.

Can you fry with extra virgin olive oil?

Yes. Extra virgin olive oil has a smoke point of about 190-210°C, and its antioxidants make it stable against heat. You can confidently use it for sautéing, roasting and baking.

Is the bitterness and peppery finish normal?

Absolutely. This sensation is a sign that the oil is fresh and rich in polyphenols (antioxidants). It is not a flaw — on the contrary, it's a mark of high quality.

Where do Pure Verda olive oils come from?

Our products are made from carefully selected olives grown in the rooted groves of the Aegean. We combine traditional methods with modern cold-pressing technology.

Is sediment or cloudiness in the cold a sign of spoilage?

No. At low temperatures olive oil can naturally become cloudy or slightly solidify. This is normal for unfiltered or minimally processed natural oils; it returns to its original state at room temperature.
