How to Store Olive Oil: 5 Golden Rules
•3 min read

Olive oil that isn't stored properly quickly loses its aroma and nutritional value. Keep yours fresh with these five rules.
Keep It Away from Light
Direct sunlight — and even kitchen lighting — oxidizes olive oil. Store it in a dark glass bottle inside a cupboard.
Store in a Cool Place
The ideal storage temperature is around 14-18°C. Keep it away from hot spots such as right next to the stove. A refrigerator isn't needed; room temperature is enough.
Close the Cap Tightly
Contact with air (oxygen) speeds up rancidity. Close the cap tightly after every use.
- Protect from light (dark bottle, closed cupboard)
- Store in a cool place (14-18°C)
- Minimize contact with air
- Keep away from heat sources
- Consume within a few months of opening
